Yes. I am part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and bring both lived and clinical understanding to this work. At HouseYourMind, I provide 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming and sex-positive therapy grounded in a strong clinical understanding of identity development and the broader mental health challenges that can come with minority stress. This often includes working with concerns such as body image distress or body dysmorphia, substance use as a coping strategy, compulsive sexual behaviour, shame, self-worth, and relationship difficulties.
My approach is non-pathologizing and sex-positive, meaning sexuality is not treated as something to be judged or corrected. Instead, therapy focuses on understanding the function of coping strategies, reducing shame, and supporting healthier emotional regulation and relational wellbeing within the context of each person’s lived experience and environment.

Currently, I provide assessments for anxiety, depression, stress, and PTSD under clinical supervision.
At this time, I am not offering assessments for ADHD, ASD, or substance use concerns; however, I’m happy to connect you with psychologists who specialize in comprehensive assessments and diagnostic services. If you’re simply curious about certain mental health conditions, I also share a range of self-administered, evidence-based screening tools to support self-education and personal insight.

Yes. At HouseYourMind, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions to clients.
In detail, I offer in-person sessions for clients across Alberta, with my office located in downtown Edmonton near the River Valley. In-person appointments are typically available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
My virtual therapy sessions are conducted via Zoom, providing flexibility and accessibility for clients wherever they are.

Yes. I regularly work with individuals and partners in consensual non-monogamous relationships, including open relationships and polyamory. This includes support with attachment dynamics, jealousy, boundary-setting, communication breakdowns, agreements, and the emotional complexity that can arise when navigating non-traditional relationship structures in a monogamy-normative culture. The work is grounded in understanding both relational theory and the real-world dynamics these relationships involve.
-
Yes. I provide kink-affirming therapy and have a strong understanding of kink and BDSM dynamics, including consent frameworks, power exchange, shame, identity integration, and relational impact. This is a non-pathologizing space where kink is not treated as a symptom, but as a valid aspect of identity and relational expression. Therapy can focus on emotional wellbeing, relationships, shame reduction, communication, or any concerns that arise within or outside of kink contexts.

Therapy is a non-judgemental space, and clients are not accepted or declined based on personal characteristics or identities.
The free consultation is used to better understanding a client’s needs, concerns, expectations, while also providing an opportunity for clients to understand the therapeutic approach offered. The purpose of this process is to determine whether there is a good clinical fit for working together, and it also allows the clinician to determine whether to proceed with ongoing therapy.
If it becomes clear after the consultation that there is not a strong clinical fit, referral to another provider who is better suited to the client’s needs may be recommended upon request.

Our standard therapy session is 50 minutes. In some cases, sessions may be extended to 60 minutes at no additional cost, depending on the presenting issues. For clients who prefer more time, extended sessions (80 minutes) are also available for booking at a higher rate.
Various rates are listed on the Services page and I offer sliding scale for equity deserving individuals and anyone in need of assistance for therapy with limited spots.
-
I can direct bill to various insurance companies, depending on your specific policy. If direct billing is not available, I can provide a receipt for payment made directly by you, which can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Yes, I offer a free initial consultation before any commitment. This is a brief opportunity for us to connect, discuss what you’re looking for, and see whether it feels like a good fit to work together.
If you’re looking for something outside of what I offer, I can also do my best to connect you with other trusted professionals in the field to help ensure you’re supported.
-
My booking, cancellation, and rescheduling policy requires at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps ensure availability for all clients and allows for schedule adjustments when needed.

At HouseYourMind, Our first session is usually a general assessment.
We’ll explore your current challenges, learn about your family and support system, mental health history, existing stressors, self-care routines, and strengths. Together, we’ll set therapy goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you.
No need to come prepared like it’s an interview. Please just come as you are. Feel free to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, and you’re welcome to have a water bottle or a cup of tea/coffee to stay cozy and hydrated.
This session is meant to be supportive, non-judgmental, and safe, giving us a good starting point for your therapy journey.
-
The length of therapy really depends on your unique goals, challenges, and progress. Some clients benefit from a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others find longer-term support helpful for deeper patterns or ongoing stressors.
We will collaboratively review your progress throughout therapy and adjust the plan as needed. My approach is flexible and goal-focused, so you’ll always know what you’re working toward and can make decisions about continuing or pausing therapy along the way.
-
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential, which means it stays private between us. Your privacy is protected by professional and legal standards.
There are a few exceptions required by law, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if disclosure is required by a court order. I will always explain these exceptions clearly and discuss any steps with you before sharing information.
The goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share openly and feel supported.

Therapy can be helpful if you’re experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, trauma, or feeling “stuck” in life. You don’t need a crisis or a major issue to benefit. Even wanting to better understand yourself or improve coping skills is a good reason to reach out.
Unlike taking a pill or monitoring numbers on a test, therapy is a process of exploration, growth, and self-understanding. Progress may not always be immediate or linear, but it is meaningful and long-lasting.
The best way to find out is to schedule an initial consultation, where you can ask questions, share your concerns, and see if the approach feels like a good fit. Therapy is collaborative, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and supported from the start.
-
It’s completely okay if you decide to switch therapists or end therapy at any point. Therapy is a personal journey, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and supported.
If you choose to end or transition, I can discuss your progress, next steps, and ongoing strategies, and I’m also happy to support you in locating or referring you to other professionals if needed.
